How we choose audiobook platforms

We evaluate audiobook platforms based on a consistent set of criteria: catalog size and diversity, pricing transparency, app usability across devices, offline listening support, and overall value for different types of listeners. We test each platform firsthand before including it in our comparisons. No platform pays to be featured or reviewed on NextAudiobook.

Our recommendations change when platforms change — if a service degrades its experience or raises prices without adding value, we update our picks accordingly.

How we create book lists

Our book lists and reading recommendations are curated by our editorial team. We draw from bestseller data, reader reviews across multiple platforms, librarian recommendations, and our own listening experience. We prioritize books that are well-narrated, well-structured for audio, and genuinely engaging — not just titles with large marketing budgets.

Every book on our lists is selected because we believe it delivers a great listening experience. We never accept payment for book placements.

Affiliate relationships and independence

NextAudiobook participates in affiliate programs, including those run by audiobook platforms. When you click a link on our site and make a purchase or sign up for a trial, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you.

Our editorial judgments are made independently of any affiliate relationship. We do not recommend a platform or book because of commission rates. If a platform has a lower rating or doesn’t fit a particular use case, we say so plainly — even when affiliate links are available for that platform. For more detail, see our Affiliate Disclosure.

Corrections and updates

We review and update our content regularly — platform comparisons every 3–6 months, book lists quarterly, and guide articles as information changes. When a factual error is identified and verified, we correct it promptly and note the update date on the page.
